Here are just a few of many photos that I was lucky enough to create. It is a beautiful feeling to have watched our sister moon bare of light in her full body among her celestial neighbors... It is truly an experience that I will always cherish and remember.

We are just a short drive to one of the most architecturally beautiful locations on the east coast to have a wedding! Remember when you were a child? Remember how your eyes light up as the adults talked about how much snow was coming in the days to come? Well, I recently had the opportunity to relive some of those childhood feelings- This lovely young couple and I had scheduled an engagement photo shoot in hopes that the weather would not be too harsh...a 7-10 inch snowfall hit us the day before the photo shoot! This couple was so much fun to work with in the snow! We were able to make use of a great location and it really gave us the advantage of setting up our 'snow' pictures as well as some really classic indoor shots! I am so glad that I didn't listen to the weatherman, with his warnings of not going out on the roads-Extra Kudos to these two for being so open to so many ideas. I want to take a moment to say how amazing it was to have been a part of this couple's wedding day! Really, what a wonderful experience this was! This beautiful young lady paid special attention to the little details, and it showed :) From the color scheme, the center pieces, the dinner and even down to the desserts, the guests were all given a romantic experience that will not soon be forgotten...there was never a dull moment! The Thing I Love most about being a Professional Wedding Photographer in VA / Fairfax County is that we are so close to so many amazing places to have a wedding! The Mclean / Tysons / Vienna area has always been a gem for wedding ceremonies and receptions, with it's own flavor and feel that commands elegance and style. I really have to give it to this Beautiful couple for planning and executing the nicest day for their guests! The Ceremony was very touching and the food was amazing (extra Kudos to this couple for insisting my associate photographer & I ate well! Filet Mignon & Shrimp, Yummmm!!) Extra Classy!!

DC Engagement Photography Keeps Getting Better And Better

As a local artist, I truly love working in DC with my clients... This beautiful couple really liked the idea of having their Engagement photo shoot in DC around the summer time. We were able to find some real great weather during the later part of the day. We did this for a few reasons, to ensure the couple was comfortable, also because lighting is perfect for portraits 1.5 to 2.5 hours before the sunsets (at least in my humble opinion) :)

I really have to give it to this couple for having so much fun during the photo shoot! We had such a great time together! My cheeks hurt from smiling so much, and I wasn't even having my picture taken!! It was great to see see these two love birds during the photo shoot, they did everything perfectly! They were always in the "now" together and well aware of the lens at the same time :) There was never a dull moment...

We have all posed for a picture before, and usually if a friend or a close relative is taking the photo we smile in a way that shows a side of our selves more familiar to family or friends. If someone that we are not familiar with approaches us with a camera, we may not show the same side, but rater be a little reserved (maybe?) The key to a successful Engagement Photo Shoot is to be your self! Leave your reservations behind and don't be shy, "strike a pose" and simply have fun!

Arlington Wedding Photography At It's Finest!

If you are planning a Wedding and have not considered Arlington as a possible location, you may want to think again...It is such a wonderful city, nestled just a "stones throw" away from Washington DC...
Yesterday, I had the utmost pleasure of working with one of the most adorable couples and they decided to host their wedding day in none other than, Arlington Va!
This was one of the funnest weddings that I have had the honor of being asked to photograph!
Each and Every Guest was such a delight to mingle with through out the day, I was able capture some very Photo Journalistic photos, plus work with the Bridal Party to ensure that we were able to get some Traditional Portraits as well! I literally could not stop smiling the entire day :o)

These two love birds shared a classic type of love that is destined to last forever! I can already picture them celebrating their 50 year anniversary, still feeling the same love for each other that I just witnessed yesterday! The Groom was Gentleman, and the bride an Absolute Princess!

I was lucky enough to work with a very well known artist through out DC/ VA/MD... The wonderful Singer/Songwriter, Heather Renee wanted to get some more images for her portfolio & press kit. The photo shoot could not have gone better! We managed to get some very powerful images to extend her press kit beyond your typical head shots...What I realized early on, was that Heather was a natural in front of the lens! She was so amazing to work with! Her positive energy flowed through out the studio!

I was recently asked to cover the 2009 Graduation Celebration at George Washington University and the School Of Engineering And Applied Science. It was also the 125th Anniversary of the University which made it extra special.
This is a photo of Dean Dolling, Ph.D presenting Mr. Bill Westenhofer a golden clock on behalf of the school for extraordinary achievement. Bill Westenhofer earned his Masters in computer science from GWU in 1995 and has since been heavily involved in the Film Industry leading teams of Visual Effects artists on such Recent Blockbuster films as "Land Of The Lost" working side by side with Will Ferrell. He has also won an Academy Award for Achievement In Visual Effects, for his leading role in production of "The Golden Compass" and has also been recently nominated for an Oscar for "The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, The Witch And The Wardrobe." He has also supervised the Visual Effects on the films; "Elf," "The Rundown," MIB 2," "Cats & Dogs," Stuart Little 1&2." His lighting effects and animation work was also featured in "Batman Forever," "Speed 2, " Spawn," "Kazaam," and "Waterworld."
It was such an honor to have been there! Thank you GWU for such a wonderful Graduation Ceremony!

Photographing Weddings in VA has always been colorful! We have some remarkable sunsets here and if photographed right, one can really enhance the dramatic level of a shot. I have always liked to use the sun in my frames during wedding coverage. It is a little different than traditional 'medium shot' portraits in the sense that you really get a feel for the environment around the Bride & Groom. She was willing to get ready very early on in the day to spend a good amount of time on her portraits hours before the wedding. This is was such a wonderful idea! With the National Cherry Blossom Festival behind us, we can all breathe a sigh of releif that the millions of visitors came and went with ease! I was lucky enough to be able to hold 13 seperate Cherry Blossom Engagement Photo Shoots for some of my clients during the blossom peak.

A Touch Of Color

Rose petals are always a nice touch at the Altar...They add a nice touch of color and even a pleasant scent. This shot was taken from ground level with a Fish Eye Lens. I thought it would best portray the rose petal's point of view. I like to give my clients portraits of the environment that they would not have usually seen them selves. Unless the bride was laying down in front of the altar, she would have never had this point of view :o)
This was such a wonderful day, so full of color, It was only natural to focus on the small details.
This couple was so wonderful to work with! It was so much fun finding shots that would give them a unique perspective of their BIG DAY!

Each of the 4 Wedding Seasons have a natural color scheme...For example Fall weddings will typically be decorated in 'fall colors' such as yellows and oranges and reds. Some brides refuse to abide by the seasonal color schemes and choose their favorite colors. It is important to get the feed back of a professional designer/florist on what types of colors my match both, the season, and the atmosphere you wish to set for your guests.

The Bride and Groom usually take extra special care when designing their Cake for themselves and their guests. The flavors, color scheme, accessories and topper are all thought out to fit into the grand scheme of things...I feel it important to take my time and capture the essence of each cake as a subject all to itself.

To take stunning portraits, one has to remember that the lense never lies...
If you are having a good time and are willing to take some direction from your photographer you are off to a good start! The most important thing to remember is to act natural! If you are 'stiff' or unsure how to pose, your portraits will suffer. Stand close to each other, whisper "I Love You" to one another, tell her how important she is to you, then find your photographer's lense...this will ensure the presence of body language in your portrait. Candid photographs always demand attention for several reasons, one being that they look stunning. During a photo shoot with your photographer try not to get your self worked up about whether or not your are posing right. I recently had the most uncomfortable engagement session with a couple(NOT the couple pictured above) that did not understand the concept of acting naturally. Needless to say the photographs looked amazing, but it took a lot of unnecessary time away from the photo shoot for me to explain what acting natural means...This photo above is one of my favorite engagement pictures because it is a prime example of a natural pose.

A Little Touch Of Color Goes A Long Way

Black and White photographs have always been a favorite of mine. One effect that really makes Black and White photographs stand out is color conversion. As you can see, this photo becomes a dramatic display piece once this effect is applied. This type of image generally takes anywhere from 45 minutes up to 1.5 hours to apply depending on the photograph itself and how large and area you will be airbrushing...I think that it is worth every moment :o)

This is one of my favorite Photo Journalistic Photographs...There was a lot of great natural lighting here, so I was shooting some with my 200mm zoom lense and no flash. This shot came out exactly as I pictured it...
The best thing about it is, she had no idea that I was even taking her picture! This particular venue had great lighting, and that made it easy to take a lot of natural photos of everyone!
